Work/Life Balance Panel

Jocelyn Laidlaw

CTV Calgary Anchor

As a young child, CFCN’s News at 5 anchor Jocelyn Laidlaw always knew she would end up in the world of broadcasting. Raised and schooled in Vancouver, Jocelyn graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and then went on to complete the BCIT Broadcast Journalism program. Jocelyn’s career has taken her to Regina, Vancouver and Calgary.

Highlights of Jocelyn’s time in broadcasting includes covering the sniper story from Washington state, the missing women in Vancouver and the subsequent arrest of suspected serial killer Willy Pickton, and covering the Air India charges and pretrial. “I have always loved reporting, especially live reports and breaking news, “admits Jocelyn. “ I love the chase of the story and getting it first!”

Jocelyn says that one of her most memorable moments was traveling to San Diego to cover the illness and death of Vancouver’s most beloved killer whale Bjossa. In her spare time, Jocelyn enjoys equestrian sports and travelling. Recent trips include Bali, Taiwan, France, Belgium, Spain and Cuba. Jocelyn also loves to cook and spend time with her son, husband and two Labrador retrievers.
